FROM THE WATER TO THE ROAD & BACK AGAIN!

Firma Janssen Boten, at the time one of the largest inland shipping companies in the Netherlands, takes care of the transport of freight and passengers on the river Maas. The route between Lith and 's-Hertogenbosch is operated daily. In 1923, the connection over the water received competition from a small bus that allowed people to arrive at their destination much faster.
The Janssen Firm does not stop there and (rich and powerful as they are) immediately buys a bus and drives (the first time) the route for free to eliminate the competition. Car service De Maaskant was born. Jan Smits Sr. will be employed, among others. as a bus driver. He will be employed as a driver until 1938 and will continue the company independently from 1938.

The scheduled services were continued after the war, but were also expanded in the 1950s with day trips for various groups. In 1960 the step abroad is taken. At the end of the sixties, the company has grown to 5 coaches and actively starts organizing trips, the spearhead of which is the school trips. During the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Maaskant Reizen continues to grow as the largest independent bus tour operator in Brabant. Many more activities will be added in the new millennium.
Onto the water
Because of the affinity with the water, we (now the 3rd and 4th generation Smits) started with MK-Boats. We want to sail with attractive boats and make supboards affordable for a large group of users!
